Sub Vexillum – marsj av Øyvind Strand

Sub Vexillum (Under flagget)
ble komponert i februar/mars 2025 og er primært tenkt som gatemarsj. Komponisten brukte marsjen som bidrag i Marinemusikkens uhøytidelige marsjkonkurranse i april dette året. Som vanlig i Strands marsjer har alle instrumentgrupper melodi ett eller annet sted i marsjen. Den er en typisk marsj fra denne komponisten, full av rytmiske og melodiske godbiter og med overraskende modulasjoner underveis.

Øyvind Strand (1956)
er en norsk musiker, komponist og dirigent. Han er oppvokst i Drangedal og bosatt i Skien.
Strand har vært dirigent i Musikkforeningen Suoni siden 1980, har også vært dirigent for Gimsøy skolemusikk 1977-2023 og dirigert koret Canto Libre (siden 1995).
Øyvind Strand har komponert flere marsjer som er blitt populære, blant andre Telemark Bataljon, Himmelstuperne, Ambassadør og Landlov.

Sub Vexillum (Under the Flag)
was composed in February/March 2025 and is primarily intended as a street march. The composer used the march as a contribution to the Royal Norwegian Marine Band’s informal march competition in April this year. As usual in Strand's marches, all instrument groups have a melody somewhere in the march. It is a typical march from this composer, full of rhythmic and melodic treats and with surprising modulations along the way.

Øyvind Strand (1956)
is a Norwegian musician, composer and conductor. He grew up in Drangedal and lives in Skien.
Strand has been a conductor in the Suoni Musikkforening since 1980, has also been a conductor for Gimsøy School Band from 1977-2023 and has conducted the Canto Libre choir (since 1995).
